How Microsoft Does Year-End Performance Reviews

Microsoft’s fiscal year runs from July through June of the following year, and we’ve recently been doing our annual review for fiscal year 2023. I wanted to record and share how Microsoft runs its annual reviews, so why not just share a selection of the slides our CVP (Corporate Vice President) presented at our org’s recent Rewards all-hands? Microsoft is like a small country, with a huge number of departments and teams inside, and managers at every level are really just glorified employees themselves. Everyone wants the process to be as transparent as possible, to cut down on suspicion and internal friction, which also helps keep things fair.
